NEW ADULT EDUCATION FORUM
WITH ROSANA THOMPSON
Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 11:30a
Do you have questions you are afraid to ask about what is happening between Israel and Palestine?
Mark your calendars!
On Sunday, May 26, at 11:30a, Rosana Thompson will provide an Adult/youth education forum here at PCOP. We traveled to Palestine together in February with the PCUSA Delegation. She is a faithful Christian, sincere and authentic and has so much compassion. You will fall in love with her too. She is a wonderful storyteller and is looking forward to sharing her journey with us.
Here is some of her bio...
Rosana celebrates ten years since first joining the Bright Stars of Bethlehem community. (Bright Stars of Bethlehem is a 501c3 nonprofit Christian-based organization dedicated to supporting the health, education, and cultural and spiritual development of the people in the Middle East to promote peace and harmony in the region.) Rev. Mitri Raheb founded Dar Kalima University, a college for the Arts.
Rosana’s Palestinian Christian family lives in Israel, the Occupied West Bank, and across the global diaspora. Her mom is her hero, an interior designer who was three years old during the Nakba. “Telling my family’s story is my activism. My grandfather was a renowned portrait photographer for dignitaries who visited the ‘Holy Land.’ His work is a historic record. My Palestinian relatives are heartfelt, brave survivors. From them, I have inherited a long and deep legacy of faith, a stunning culture, and courage to persevere.”
A ten-year evangelical detour with Willow Creek Church and a few delegations to Palestine led her to collaborations with the Chicago Faith Coalition on Middle East Policy, the Arab Jewish Partnership for Peace and Justice, CMEP, The Telos Group, and Bright Stars of Bethlehem among others. She splits time between Illinois and North Carolina, allowing her to take momentum from a long-established Chicago activist network to build advocacy in Western North Carolina.
